To God be the Glory . . . .

I've always been grateful to my God for the talents He has given me.  I believe my love of needlework and my love of needlework design are two talents the Lord has given to me to use for His purpose.  Searching for ways to give back to Him in appreciation, I'm designing this series of complimentary cross stitch charts of verses taken from the King James Bible.

My inspiration for this series came this week as I was shopping in a local craft store -- bargain shopping again.   My zeal must have shone unusually bright that afternoon.  A lady approached me and asked if I did much cross stitch.  Have I done much cross stitch!!!  She explained to me she was looking for "letters" to stitch Bible verses for her children.  She wanted to do all of this a month before Christmas.  She was still learning the difference between the lower count aida and monk cloth verses the higher count linens.   She had searched through all the available charts, not finding ones with just Bible verses for her project.  I explained as much as possible in a short ten-minute aisle-chat.

On the way home I thought to myself how easy it would be to chart verses in a standard size adaptable to different counts, fabrics and fibers.  Verses will be selected from the King James Bible.  (I asked *GOD* for copyright permission and has given me His permission to chart His Word for my needlework pieces.)  I am attempting to keep the charts simple in design with a border around each which may or may not be stitched or appropriate substitutions of the stitchers choice may be stitched instead of the current border.

My goal is to keep the design size the standard (127 stitches wide by 131 stitches wide).    Stitched on 32-count fabric over-one, the piece would be approximately 4 inches by 4 inches.   Stitched over two it would double to 8 inches by 8 inches. This is an approximate design size.  Be sure to allow 2 to 3 inches border for your piece on all sides for finishing.   The size of the piece will vary depending upon the stitcher's selection of fabric.   The fabric size and fiber selection will be left up to the stitcher although I do use a fiber selection for charting purposes.  I may change the design format as this series progresses, but the verse will be present and the size will be standard.

It is my desire this series will grow even as my spiritual walk with my Lord and Savior grows every day.   It is my hope this series will be useful to stitchers who love the Word of God, don't have the time or energy to search high and low for a chart of a Bible verse they wish to stitch.

Rejoice!

Meri
